Dreaming of adventurous road trips and stories and photos of cool old stuff and drinking tea from enamel mugs. Enjoying new life in the garden. Spending time with lovely neighbours – sipping, nibbling and singing tunes. Oogling over Lew’s latest drawings. Scoffing! Celebrating with sweet little superheroes. Building new garden beds. Adoring the late afternoon tranquility. Treasuring the simple moments. Stopping to smell the flowers picked for me by special people. Sipping coffee with friends at quaint little spots. Cuddling these two cuties. And plenty of other things that make this life pretty darn lovely. I hope you’ve been happy and healthy and enjoying life too.
1 & 2. First time lawn bowling and my gorgy sister-in-laws 29th birthday. 3. One of Lew’s latest drawings. 4 & 5. A visit to the aquarium where we witnessed a marriage proposal of the most romantic kind. 6. Fish and chips, as you do after gazing at fish in aquariums. 7. Yummy salady lunches. 8. A homeschooling get together and Nethercote Falls. 9 & 10. A birthday party and a swim in a beautiful dam. 11. A rustic old bed beside the beautiful dam. 12. A BBQ with our lovely neighbours. 13. Pretty roses from a friend’s garden. What have you been up to this past week or so? Kim x
Morning teas with friends. Food with family. Gaming. Art classes. Drawing. Drawing. Drawing. Drawing with friends and cousins. Mandeni with our homeschooling group. Bettong bonding. Games with friends. A new favourite game – Monopoly Deal. Milkshakes with friends. What else? Khan Academy – geometry. Lew’s developed an interest in geometry and has been taking notes and drawing diagrams and having fun. You tubing – game reviews, movie reviews mainly. Not as much guitar lately. He’s having a term off guitar lessons in hope that his enthusiasm for guitar will come back again. Not sure what’s happened here but I think the learning of chords became boring compared to the learning of melody and picking. Lew tends to have things that he focus’ on. With his drawing he like to draw in fine tipped black pen right now. Anything other than that is not too appealing for him. I guess, if I had to choose a word to describe the way Lew learns and does things it would be specific. So perhaps the guitar thing has something to do with him not being able to be as ‘specific’ as he would normally like when it comes to choosing songs and style. I find this with art class too. He likes art class but he’s often not happy with the work he produces there. He says it’s because it’s not his normal style. I like that he knows what works for him and what doesn’t and that he’s confident in that. I also admire that he is pushing himself a little more these days to do things that aren’t 100% within his comfort zone. 14, 6 foot 1 and growing up far, far too quickly for my liking. Where does the time go? Kim x
Remember this post about Lew? I mentioned in there that he was working on a series of drawings of old buildings around our area. That one up there is based on that house down there. I love how he adds his own touches to his stuff. He always has to have something from his imagination added. He doesn’t like things to look exactly as they do in real life. Cool, I reckon. He’s working on some comic stuff too. I keep coming back to this one in his sketch book and loving it. Love the ruler stabbing out the eye. Yum! Oh, could be an eye theme thing going on. In art class at the moment they are doing self portraits. Lew doesn’t love this one but I think it’s a lot like him. Everyones. Aren’t they great? Kim x
