I wanted to share with you 3 ways I use lemon essential oil in my nest. It’s one of my favourite oils so I thought you might like it too.
Doterra essential oils are part of my daily life. I use lots of them for a whole range of things. I diffuse them, I apply them to my skin and I also take some of them internally. Lemon oil is one that I use every single day.
So, the number 1 way I love to use lemon essential oil is in my water. I drink a lot of water. A.Lot. Since I found Doterra essential oils I began popping two drops into my glass of water or water bottle (if it’s a biggish water bottle I add 3 or 4 drops). It is so refreshing and now I’m addicted. As much as I LOVE water it just doesn’t taste the same now without lemon oil in it. Popping a couple of drops in a glass of water, three times a day can help with lots of things.
Some of lemon oils’ lovely benefits in water include:
- weight loss
- metabolism and digestion
- thirst quenching
- oral health
- tummy upsets
- skin nourishment
The number 2 way I love to use lemon essential oil is in my Doterra diffuser. It’s really important that these pure essential oils are not heated. The diffuser I have will not heat the oils. Extreme heat is an enemy to these oils and may take away their wonderful healthful components. The diffuser works in a slightly different way and the steam is not heated so the oil’s benefits are not disturbed. Oh my goodness, the smell of lemon oil in the air makes me feel soooo good. It’s invigorating and refreshing and it just makes me feel all happy and at peace with the world. Honestly. I get that same feeling from pushing my fingernail into the skin of a fresh lemon and sniffing it but that’s a lot of work to keep the smell in the air. So, for me, the oil in a diffuser is perfect.
The number 3 way I love to use lemon essential oil is as a bathroom cleaner. I pop about 15 drops equally of lemon oil, eucalyptus oil and the blend called Purify, some white vinegar and water into a spray bottle and leave it in my bathroom for an all purpose cleaner as well as an air deoderiser for those ….hmmm…delicious toilety smells. Sometimes I add melalueca as well. Oohh, and lavender. It just depends on my mood or sometimes it’s about laziness so the first thing I can get my hands on will be the one that goes into the bottle.
I clean the shower, vanity, cabinets, toilet and bath all with this spray bottle. The smell is so yummy!
Some other things that you can use lemon oil for include:
- teeth whitener (though I’ve never tried this)
- cleaning grease off your hands
- deoderising your washing machine
- silver and wood cleaner
- getting rid of glue or chewing gum (eucalyptus is also great for this)
So that’s a bit of a run down of the 3 ways I use lemon essential oil in my nest as well as a few other ideas as well. It’s such a lovely oil and it’s also one of the cheapest ones to buy. Double bonus!
Tell me, have you used essential oils before? If not, would you?
