The pressures seem to be off a little and expectations are way less demanding than they feel at other times of the year. I’m not really sure why that is as we are a homeschooling family and I do a little bit of work from home so it’s not really any different for us at this time of year than any other time but I guess the attitude of the people we hang out with must rub off on me and so I put less pressure on myself or something. Or maybe it’s the whole fresh new start to the year that I’m feeling more free and easy about. The chance to get it all together and be organised and innovative and fresh and ….yep, I know, that feeling lasts for such a short period of time, so I’m going to lap it up while I can! Anyway, what I really wanted to post about today was this gorgeous herbal tea I’ve been kindly sent, courtesy of RedBalloon.   WP_20140101_12_00_34_Pro__highres   To be completely honest, I was a little worried about the quality of tea I would find inside the box. The packaging looked really lovely and nesty {important for a blog called Feather & Nest, don’t you think?} and I was pleased to find two metal canisters inside but I was worried I’d find a dusty, teeny leafed tea.   WP_20140101_12_01_35_ProWP_20140101_12_02_04_Pro   Oh how wrong I was! Have a look at this tea ….   WP_20140101_12_10_41_Pro   This one is …….   WP_20140101_12_10_31_Pro   and this is …… So I set myself up a little tea pot and some herbal tea cups and set to work at enjoying some more holiday time and relax over a pot of the yummiest herbal and flavoured tea I’ve ever had. Honestly.   WP_20140101_11_53_39_Pro   Both  of these teas looked liked they’d been picked straight out of the herb garden. The smell is amazing. They are so fresh and vibrant and all you want to do is get your nose close and sniff away. I wish this was a sniffogram. Think potpouri – honestly, even if you loathe herbal tea you could use this tea as an aromatherapy kit! Oh, and by the way, if you are a herbal tea loather, I’d love to challenge you with this tea.  I bet you’d become a herbal tea convert after that first sip.   WP_20140101_12_12_45_Pro   Oh, and speaking of herbal tea loathers,  I asked Lew to join me. Lew, who is 14 years old and normally loathes herbal tea, agreed with a fair bit of trepidation.  Three cups later and Lew’s loathing turned to love. I’m now the proud mum of a  14 year old herbal  tea sipping teenager. I’m happy.   WP_20140101_002   I love that this tea is organic. That’s a real bonus for me but more than that is the whole sensory thing you get when you open the lid. It might sound like I’m over doing the love for the tea but if I could just give you a sniff of this stuff you would so get what I’m saying. It’s got me all keen again to make my own herbal teas and grow more of the ingredients that are in these two particular ones. I’m not a huge fan of chamomile after I OD’ed on it while I had a stomach buggy thing a few years ago but this one did not make me gag and if you are a chamomile enjoyer then you would absolutely love it.   WP_20140101_004   So, thankyou so much, RedBalloon, for sending me this tea to try. It has been such a treat ….if only the tins were never ending pits of pepperminty leaves. I honestly don’t think I can go back to the regular peppermint tea I’ve been buying at the supermarket. There is just no comparison. I’ll be savouring every last leaf:) Are you a herbal tea lover? What’s your herbal tea of choice? Have you ever had tea from Red Balloon? I’d love to know. I’m off for a little sit down and a herbal tea on my front verandah. Ahhh the bliss!
